18 Nov “What is The Wild Bunch”, a film showcasing the roots of the Bristol Sound
What is The Wild Bunch is a new documentary that tells the story of Bristol’s legendary Wild Bunch sound system. The Wild Bunch is a collective of DJs that included Massive Attack’s Grant “Daddy G” Marshall, Robert Del Naja and Nellee Hooper from Soul II Soul. They were the pioneers of fusing a wide variety of genres. Mixing disparate styles including elements of punk, R&B and reggae. Furthermore, it was their unique focus on slower rhythms and ambient electronic atmospheres that laid the foundations of the Bristol sound. Renowned British artists such as Goldie and Roni Size have also credited the group as an influence on their work. Photo credit: Beezer / PYMCA
