28 Dec #vinyloftheday – Sampology interview
Sampology, aka Sam Poggioli, first caught the public eye by seamlessly incorporating both audio and visual in his DJ sets. Born and based in Brisbane, Australia, Sam started fiddling with turntables at the young age of 15, citing The Avalanches’ “Since I Left You” as a major inspiration. He took a creative plunge in 2008, from turntable scratching and sampling to integrating video mixing into his performances.
Not one to be creatively satisfied, Sam entered producing and released his first EP, Super Sounds, in 2011, followed by his full-length album, Doomsday Deluxe, a year after. His ability to mix and match different influences in his DJ sets, coupled with his unconventional personal touch also sets him apart. Sam has also showcased his unique talents at festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SXSW, Tropfest and Big Day Out. #vinyloftheday recently took him out when he was in Singapore, where he chats with us about life, music scenes and his love for vinyl.
