21 Nov Space Oddity 50th Anniversary LP features Tony Visconti’s 2019 mix
Finally, the 50th anniversary LP edition of Bowie’s seminal 1969 album Space Oddity is released. It features a brand new 2019 mix by original producer Tony Visconti. What’s more, the vinyl will be randomly distributed worldwide with a mixture of hand-numbered labels. Numbers 1 to 1969 on silver vinyl numbers, 1970 to 2019 on gold vinyl and the remainder being on black vinyl. Above all this edition of the album features the title track of the boxset Conversation Piece restored to the track listing in its initially intended position before it was dropped due to time constraints of vinyl.
Space Oddity is the second studio album by David Bowie. In fact it was originally titled David Bowie until it was reissued in 1972 by RCA Records as Space Oddity. The subject matter and title evidently inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Then when the record came out, it was after Bowie had made the transition from a avant-garde-inspired musician to a more folk-based sound. We are sure that the tracks on this album will linger in your head long after they have stopped playing.
