Tell us a bit about your store:
How long does it exist? What sparked the idea to open it? Is there any particular story behind it?

The store now exists for 9 years. My colleague Stan opened the store because he had a huge quantity of records and he used to work in another record store in Namur 15 years before.

Which genres do you offer? Do you specialize in certain genres?

We sell and like all kind of music. We are more specialized in Psychedelic music. For example, there’s a special section for Japanese psych/Prog, Krautrock, Librairy music, French Psych/avant-garde, Us &UK Psych, Uk & ItalianProg, East European Psych Prog, Spain/Portugal Psych Prog, and a very large indus-exp section.

What was the most awkward or funny request you have ever received? Or do you have an awkward story to share?

We have a lot of funny stories with crazy customers… The last one was two guys who entered the store at the same time.
One comes to the counter and asked us if he can sell CD’s, the other one was browsing the CD section behind him. When the first one finished the conversation, he wanted to leave the shop and the second one immediately followed him. The first one looked to the other one and screamed at him “Now it’s over. Stop following me!!!”. We thought the two guys knew each other, but actually the second one followed the other one for maybe 30 minutes through Brussels streets.. Crazy guy.

We have also famous customers. Robert Plant, Lenny Kaye also, Madlib, Thurston Moore, Afrika Bambaataa,..
Chef Dirk Myny from the Brigittines restaurant (probably one of the best restaurants in Brussels) comes also to buy his records and CD’s from us. We are very proud to be on his menu as one of his official “fournisseurs”.

Please name your current staff favorites:

For the moment records I like in the store are:
Heimat – Heimat (2016, Teenage Menopause Records/ Olivier from CHEVEU with Armelle Oberle from THE DREAMS).
Another one is Les Rallizes Dénudés* ‎– ’77 Live (1991, Rivista Inc./ amazing lo-fi psychedelic – Noise from Japan) and finally the reissue of Billy Nicholls – Would You Believe (1968, Immediate/ very hard to find UK popsike album with Small Faces as backing band).

Areski – Brigitte Fontaine ‎– L’Incendie (1973, BYG Records) and D.R. Hooker ‎– The Truth (1972, On Records), wich we both released on Veals & Geeks records. The originals were poor quality pressings and we made crazy remastering for these so that they finally sound as they should!!

Stan loves the The Jackson 5ive ‎– Get It Together (1973, Motown), a killer disco-funk LP with incredible repetitive afro influences.
Go blind test this one – nobody would guess it’s them!
