Record Store Day 2017: Full list of exclusive releases revealed
The much awaited Record Store Day 2017 happens exactly a month from today on April 22nd, celebrating 10 years of independent record stores all around the world and it’s vibrant culture – from special vinyl and CD releases made just for the day, to festivities including parades, performances, meet & greet sessions with artistes and cookouts. Starting from a humble list of released titles in 2008, it’s grown to include artists and labels from all genres and price points, and in 2015 it was recorded that 60% of the RSD Release List came from independent labels and distributors. Also for this year, it holds singer-songwriter St Vincent as it’s ambassador, following previous ambassadors such as Jack White, Dave Grohl, Metallica and many others.
RSD 2017’s Release List official highlights include titles from late legends such as David Bowie (LP sets) and Prince (12″ Singles), unreleased Smiths demos, rare singles from Madonna and Patti Smith, the 20th anniversary self-titled debut release of Marcy Playground (never on vinyl), Santana’s live set from 1969 Woodstock, Notorious B.I.G’s Born Again, new music from Animal Collective and War On Drugs, live albums from The Flaming Lips, Bruce Springsteen, Iggy Pop, Loud Reed and The Grateful Dead. There will also be hundreds of other releases from Fleetwood Mac, The Ramones, Pearl Jam, Cocteau Twins, The Sex Pistols, Sia, U2, The Raincoats, Hudson Mohawk, just to name a few.
