Missy Elliott releases Iconology, her first EP in 14 years.
Firstly, Missy Elliott is one of the most legendary female rappers to ever step foot onto the scene. As a result, more femcees exist these days. Following her footsteps since the iconic debut album, Supa Dupa Fly in 1997. In addition, Missy is the first female rapper to be awarded MTV’s Video Vanguard Award in 2019. Previously she released a few tracks here and there throughout the years. For instance 2017’s ‘I’m Better’ and 2016’s ‘WTF’. However, these songs were scrapped for a brand new project with Timbaland. Certainly, her collaboration with Timbaland was something everyone was looking forward to.
Prior to Iconology, her name has been on the headlines for the official ‘Museum of Missy Elliott’. That is an interactive museum experience honoring her work. Including the creative visionaries behind some of her iconic music videos. In this case, the event was presented by MTV. While it was only speculation that the event was held to promote new music. Finally, Missy Elliott releases her new EP. Titled Iconology. In light of the release. Missy unveiled a new music video for her track, ‘Throw it Back’. Certainly, watch it below.
