21 Aug Kim Gordon is releasing her first solo album, ‘No Home Record’
Kim Gordon is releasing her first-ever solo album, ‘No Home Record’. The album is a nine-track record. First of all, Kim Gordon is one of the most prolific and visionary artists working today. A co-founder of the legendary Sonic Youth, Gordon has performed all over the world. As a result, collaborating with many of the music industry’s most exciting figures. For instance, Tony Conrad, Ikue Mori, Julie Cafritz and Stephen Malkmus. Another thing to point out, this album follows up on the former Sonic Youth musician’s most recent release with Body/Head. The band she formed as a result of collaborating with DNA drummer Ikue Mori and guitarist Bill Nace. Also, ‘No Home Record’ is produced by Justin Raisen (Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Sunflower Bean). Including contributions from Shawn Everett (The Voidz) and composer/filmmaker Jake Meginsky.
To explain Gordon shares, “Why a solo record? And why now? I don’t know, but it wouldn’t have happened without the persistence of Justin Raisen.” “Living in LA the last few years it feels like home, but the transience of the place makes it feel sometimes like no home.” In addition, the album also features Gordon’s 2016 single ‘Murdered Out’.

Sketch Artist
Furthermore, the announcement arrives with a music video for Gordon’s new single, “Sketch Artist.” Seems like Gordon plays a car-pool driver (for a company called “Unter”). While “Broad City” star Abbi Jacobson makes a guest appearance. Recorded at Los Angeles’ Sphere Ranch. The title is inspired by Chantal Akerman’s film No Home Movie. Definitely watch the music video directed by Loretta Fahrenholz below.
