25 Apr Introducing: TAKE BACK THE NIGHTS. Trailer released!
Take Back The Nights is a community-led, ground-up initiative that was conceived by 4 members of the music eco-system with insider knowledge as music practitioners, label owners, music managers, curators, technical experts and production engineers. The initiative has partnered with SGMUSO, a local non-profit charity that supports the growth and export of Singapore’s music scene, and Rawspark Group, a Singaporean multi-media creative agency with a music and entertainment vertical. It also enjoys the support of Singapore Community Radio.
Take Back The Nights (‘TBTN’) was founded on a simple premise – every highly skilled specialist deserves the opportunity to earn a livelihood, no matter the climate. Singapore’s music eco-system was plunged into uncertainty amidst covid-19 related event cancellations and venue closures. This reality sparked the need for an online digital platform to showcase Singapore music, and to shore up the music eco-system by creating job opportunities for the communities in entertainment and production paralysed by safe distancing measures.
Their upcoming trailer teases TBTN’s new online concert series that not only pays its musicians and crew fairly, but also generates audience interaction in an online celebration of live music and branded entertainment content that is created and produced by Singaporeans, with Singaporeans, and for Singaporeans, both in the country and abroad. TBTN’s project lead, Audrey Lim, shares more: “We hear about a lot of artists having their concerts cancelled, but we sometimes forget about the ancillary industry that goes on around that. Take Back The Nights aims to give affected artists and crew the ability to earn a living, even as venues remain closed and events remain cancelled.”
