09 Dec Grimes returns with the album Miss Anthropocene in February
Grimes is back with her upcoming album Miss Anthropocene after a 4 year hiatus.
The album is a loose concept album depicting a character that she described in an Instagram post as “the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world.” She also talks about how each song on the album is “a different embodiment of human extinction as depicted through a Pop star Demonology.” The record will have 10 tracks including collaborations with 潘PAN and i_o.
While we wait for the release of her album on the 21st of February 2020, enjoy these digital singles that have been released.
Violence has a moody goth-pop sound and it features American DJ i_o. The song’s music video was acclaimed for its choreography featuring “mock pistol-firing and swordplay”.
So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth
So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth the single, has a less hook-driven composition similar to her earlier albums such as Halifaxa. There are two versions of “So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth.” The “Art Mix” lasts six minutes, while the “Algorithm Mix” essentially a radio edit, lasts just under four.
Miss Anthropocene is pressed on indie exclusive pink colored vinyl and packaged in a gatefold sleeve sporting artwork by Grimes herself. Check out the artwork and track list then pre-order the album here.
