31 Jul .gif release a mind-melter of a music video for ‘Let’s Go’
Electronic pop duo .gif have gifted us this holiday weekend with the music video for ‘LET’S GO’. It’s quite something.
Equal parts absurd and joyous, not entirely inscrutable, ‘LET’S GO’ is a labyrinth into a city that’s definitively full of life (and danger).
The five-minute film was directed by Jasper Tan, also known as Vadbibes. It houses several gorgeous vignettes that range from a cult meeting in a public park, indoor martial arts, an unceremonious medal ceremony, and .gif vocalist Weish vibing in a laundromat.
And, not to mention — like their music video for ‘Godspeed‘ — the open roads of Singapore transformed at night. That’s covering… about a quarter of the events in this film. You’ll have to watch the full thing for yourself.
“‘LET’S GO’ is a nihilist party song; a toast to the death of purpose and expectation––to giving up and being free,” .gif write about the video. “Jasper really embraces this spirit of letting go with his relentless barrage of fun, bizarre vignettes, designed to furrow your brows and curl your lips at the same time.”
‘LET’S GO’ is taken from .gif’s latest effort, Hail Nothing, which is available to purchase digitally on Bandcamp. The album is also available on vinyl via The Analog Vault.
