06 Nov Free The Robots uses crowdfunding to bring his new album DATU on vinyl
Chris Alfaro also known as Free The Robots will be releasing his latest album DATU on vinyl. Well, here’s the catch, it is a crowdfunded pre-sale project. So the extremely limited edition vinyl of DATU will only exist if the goal is met. Only 300 will be available worldwide through Diggers Factory.
To explain more about the album, DATU is the name given to the ruling head of a clan or tribe during ancient, pre-colonial times of the Philippines. Because of colonisation, cultural amnesia, and the reshaping of Philippine culture throughout generations Alfaro has almost completely disconnected from his roots. As a result, with no knowledge of what stories exist in the physical reality of his bloodline, Alfaro then uses this album as a way of reconnecting with his ancestry in the spiritual realm of the creative flow state.
Chris Alfaro is Free the Robots; the musician, beat maker/ DJ, known for his ability to jump in and out of other worlds. Often creating a unique signature sound that hints at electronic, hip hop, jazz and psych, while remaining un-genre-fiable. His free flowing imagination, and tendency to go out of bounds certainly keeps his productions and DJ sets constantly moving forward; away from robotic monotony, ultimately freeing the robots.
In any case, head here to pre-order DATU through it’s crowdfunding campaign to avoid disappointment. At the same time, do check out the artwork and track list below.
