What started your interest in music? Is there any interesting story or history behind it?

As a teenager I was listening to the radio, I was discovering everything from there. Next step was going to buy cassettes with my dad. I remember him driving through the city and I was unpacking “Lifelines” – A-ha cassette we just bought. Then I had my Eminem phase. Everybody adored Eminem. Limp Bizkit also was my kind of music back then. When I was 16 I was into Him and Rasmus, what a time… After that, as a young woman who started going out, go clubbing, electronic music was what I was listening for the next 5 years or so. Then I went to a house party with friends from university and there was a guy with a guitar and he covered “Stinger” – Razorlight. My world just turned upside down. It was a blast. Then I discovered Arctic Monkeys and falled in love with indie rock music. It was like being thirsty all the time, it never was enough for me. I remember being working till late hours listening to Oasis, “AM” (Arctic Monkeys) and “Ultraviolence” (Lana del Rey). It was just beautiful.

The Libertines, The White Stripes, The Kooks, The Killers, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Pixies, Phoenix, Razorlight, The Black Keys, The Vaccines… All of them were in my playlist.

And then I heard to The Strokes. The saviours of rock and roll. Their music is what I love the most. Absolutely brilliant. How long have you been collecting? Since 30 of March 2017. I’ve got a turntable as a birthday present. So it has been 3 month since then.

What does your collection mean to you?

My collection is small for now. I’m getting records of albums I really love. There is no random wax. The most special part of it is a full collection of The Strokes’ albums plus side projects of every member of the band.

It started with “Is this it”. As everybody around knew that I’m pretty obsessed with The Strokes, for my birthday, as a gift I’ve got a turntable and a debut album of my favorite band. So it was my very first vinyl record. I was spinning it during all night among birthday flowers in a living room. And the next day I went to work, I was sleepy and incredibly happy girl who just turned 27. On lunchtime I ordered “Everything you’ve come to expect” from The Last Shadow Puppets. And at the evening I went to the record store and bought “AM” from Arctic Monkeys.

At that day I realised that there is music that mean a lot to me, that is part of my life, that represents what I feel at some point. It’s not just music you put on spotify to fill the silence while you are making a dinner… To me it’s a deep feeling and very special albums that make you dance as crazy, that make you cry, that make you feel like you probably never did before.

What’s your philosophy behind collecting records and how has that evolved since you started collecting up until the present day?

I started with few records I had very clear that I want to own. My personal essentials, like The Strokes’ collection. Some of Arctic Monkeys and so on. Then I started digging. Found couple of gems as “Band of Gypsys” and “Rumours”. Also I like the idea of buying records while travelling. I remember going to London to see the Pink Floyd exhibition at V&A Museum, and I’ve got my copy of the “Dark side of the Moon” there. Great album, great memories of the city!

Share with us your top 3 records and why?

It’s very hard to choose, but I will go with these 3:

The Strokes – Is this it
“Is this it” might be my favorite album of all times. It’s so raw, so authentic. Most of the songs were only recorded once due to Julian’s insistence that the music retain their “raw efficiency”. The impact of this album was so immediate and dramatic. I just can’t express how much I love it.

Arctic Monkeys – AM
“AM” is a compilation of perfect songs. I associate it with that part of my life when I felt for the indie-rock music few years ago. This band was like my first serious love. The album was just released and I played it again and again, that it became a part of me.

Tame Impala – Currents
“Currents” is a candy to my ears. To me it’s one of the most sexiest albums I have ever heard. This July it’s gonna be 2 years since Tame Impala released this gem. So it has been almost 2 years of pure pleasure. The music, lyrics, Kevin’s voice. It’s just perfection.
